My first principal blog

Welcome to Henley Middle School! I hope you are enjoying the summer and gearing up for a phenomenal 2015-16 school year.  I can’t wait for the school year to start!

Since becoming principal on July 1, I have been meeting students, staff, and community members to ensure the best possible start to our new year. Right now our Building Services team is working hard to prepare for students’ return.

When you join us in August, you’ll find we have upgraded our classroom space so we can provide a broader range of services to all Henley students, including those who were previously bussed to other schools.   You’ll also see we are on schedule for next spring’s opening of our new multipurpose gymnasium and fitness center. It will be a state-of-the-art facility that will expand the services and support we can provide to all students.

A lot of activity is less visible, but no less important as your teachers prepare for the upcoming school year with goals of making your school experience rigorous and engaging.

I am pleased so many of you have taken the opportunity to visit my new page. I hope to use this forum to share ideas and solicit feedback from the many stakeholder groups in our school community. Please take a minute or two to post a comment or send me an email at Among the specific topics I am thinking about include:

  • Which actions should we be taking to start the new school year off strong?
  • How will we keep making Henley excellent for all students?
  • What do you think would make this your best year yet?

As I said in my welcome letter to the community, Henley is an across the board leader in our school division. Excellence like that which you have achieved doesn’t randomly happen. Let me know what you think we need to do to continue to make Henley a safe, engaging, and truly excellent school. I look forward to hearing from you!
