Dr. Turner is a native of Charlottesville, Virginia. After graduating from Charlottesville High School in 1989, he attended Virginia Union University where he received a B.A. in History and Political Science and a minor in Religion and Philosophy in 1993. Jesse earned a Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia in 1998, and currently holds a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement as a K-12 school administrator. In May 2010, Jesse received his Doctor of Education degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Virginia State University (VSU). In addition, upon graduating from VSU, he earned a Division Superintendent License. Prior to becoming the principal at Albemarle High School, Dr. Turner was principal at Monticello High School (MoHS), worked as a history teacher, coordinator of an alternative program and an elementary and secondary assistant principal. He also has served as a district-level hearing officer for Albemarle County Public Schools. Dr. Turner’s mission is to provide each student with an opportunity to compete in a global society with confidence.
